Advocate Gordon Mashigo obtained an under-graduate BA (Law), and then a post-graduate LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch, between 2001/2005.

He later joined Webber Wentzel Bowens on a full time basis in 2006, where he completed his articles, having worked in the fields of Labour (Employment) Law, Mining Law, Intellectual Property Law, Media Law, Insurance Law and Litigation.

For the period of March 2008 to November 2014, he worked for various companies including Teal Exploration and Mining (an arm of African Rainbow Minerals), Ashira Legal Advisors and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), as in-house counsel.

After spending several years in the private sector and a parastatal, where he performed in various legal roles.
He joined the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in 2015.

As a result of the above, his areas of expertise spreads far and wide, including telecommunications, broadcasting Law, in specific relation to the regulation thereof, competition issues (in conjunction with the Competition Comission) in respect of the licensing conditions of network service providers and various other contractual issues, intellectual property, insurance law, Labour and Employment Law (Employment contracts, disciplinary enquiries, Labour Court, CCMA and Wage Negotiations), extensive contractual disputes and litigation and/or arbitration, and contractual drafting and administrative law.

During his current career as an advocate, he has practiced in various disciplines of the law over and above what is encompassed in his experience as an attorney.
