Francois Opperman graduated with a BA (Law) and LLB from the University of the Western Cape and also completed the LLM degree (with specialisation in Corporate Law) at UNISA. He completed several certificate courses in Compliance Management including anti-money laundering, Ethics, Board Governance and Whistle-blowing.
Francois completed articles as a candidate attorney and passed the Attorneys, Admission Examination in 2002. He was called to the Pretoria Society of Advocates in 2003. He joined the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in 2011, after a stint in the private sector.
Francois has experience in Corporate Governance, the Insurance and Financial Services Industry. He previously worked as the Assistant Ombudsman at the FAIS Ombudsman’s office and also as an Inspector and Company Secretary at the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors between 2005 and 2010.
